The train at Idlewild Park makes its season debut on Saturday, April 11, providing some inexpensive fun despite the crappy economy. The Idlewild train provides a leisurely tour of one of Reno's best and biggest parks, on the south side of the Truckee River just west of downtown. The schedule up to Memorial Day is 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends only. During spring break, from April 13 through 17, the train will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A full schedule commences after the Memorial Day holiday on May 25. You'll be able to ride from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. All schedules are subject to change due to adverse weather. Tickets are $2 per person, with children two and under free if riding in an adult lap. Be sure to take advantage of discount group ticket packages if you are bringing a crowd. They are available from the Parks, Recreation & Community Services offices at 190 E. Liberty Street in Reno. Call (775) 334-2260 for information.
