Got a green thumb and no dirt to play in? Check out the community garden at Teglia's Paradise Park in northeast Reno, 2745 Elementary Dr. You can obtain a plot for only $5 for the whole season. Don't tarry, though, because plots are allocated on a first-come basis, including raised beds to accommodate access for people with disabilities. Part of the produce is donated to local charities, making participation in the garden a real community activity. You can register for a space at Teglia's Paradise Park Activity Center, or at the Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center, 1301 Valley Road in Reno.

There is a mandatory orientation at Teglia's Paradise Park Activity Center on one of these dates - March 27 at 3 p.m., April 11 at 10 a.m., and May 2 at 10 a.m. Gardeners are required to contribute six hours of general upkeep in addition to maintaining their own plot.

For more information, call Pam Pearson at (775) 689-8484, or visit the Teglia's Paradise Park Community Garden Program website. If you know of any other community gardens in the area, let us all know by commenting to this post.
