Levis's jeans invented in Reno, Nevada.

I'll bet most people don't know that Levi'sŪ Jeans, one of the world's best known brands, was invented right here in Reno. The idea of adding copper rivets to the stress points of pants came from Reno tailor Jacob Davis, who subsequently struck a deal with Levi Strauss to manufacture his timeless trousers in San Francisco. At the time, these guys were just trying to make sturdy clothing for the working men of California and Nevada. Little did the know that their blue denim pants would evolve into a fashion item coveted by people across the globe.

This plaque was installed in 2006 at the location of the Davis tailor shop. If you want to guess where it is, leave a comment with your answer before reading my article about Jacob Davis.

The answer to my last What Is It? is... National Bowling Stadium.
