Update: According to a press release from event organizers, the start of Tram Face competition has been moved up to Friday the 27th due to weather concerns. Skiers are scheduled to be on the slopes from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. If nature cooperates, a second round of competition will take place on Saturday the 28th. Conditions are good now, but a storm is predicted to move into the Squaw Valley area over the weekend.

The Freeride World Tour comes to Squaw Valley USA from February 27 through March 5. This leg of the four-part tour is called the Nissan Tram Face, with the highlight being a skiing and snowboarding competition on Squaw Valley's Tram Face, a part of the mountain that has been closed since the ski area was established in 1949. It was not used even during the 1960 Olympic Winter Games.

Things kick off on Friday the 27th with ski competitions, a street fair, and concert in the Village at Squaw Valley. Skiers will be available to sign autographs. Note that this is also the opening day of SnowFest, with fireworks and other events at Squaw. The Tram Face competition is on Saturday the 28th, starting at 9 a.m. (weather permitting). Because Tram Face is located near the first tower of Squaw Valley's Cable Car, there will be excellent places to view the skiers from right around the Village, and it's free to hang out and watch. Additional related events continue through March 5.
