Sponsors of the Saddle-Trained Horse Adoption Event are the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the Nevada Department of Agriculture, and the Nevada Department of Corrections. The horses come in various weights and colors, and will have received 120 days of training from NNCC inmates. Twelve of the horses are from BLM administered lands and five are estrays from the State of Nevada. To view pictures and details about the horses, refer to the online auction catalog from the BLM Carson City District Office.
You must meet certain qualification to bid on these horses. To pre-qualify, call (775) 861-6223 (BLM horses) or (775) 343-9118 (Nevada estray horses through the Mustangs of America Foundation). Also note that this event is at a correctional facility and certain rules are enforced for public safety - do not wear blue clothing, blue jeans, tank tops, or shorts. No cell phones, cameras, or recording devices are permitted. For more information, contact Mark Struble, BLM Public Affairs Officer, at (775) 885-6107.
