Sparks residents, here's a chance to have your voice heard inside city government and to influence the future of your community. To that end, citizens are invited to apply for appointive positions currently open on three city panels.

The Sparks Planning Commission has one position open to fill an unexpired term, which ends on December 31, 2010. This body reviews and submits recommendations to the City Council on a variety of community development plans such as tentative subdivision maps, rezoning cases, annexations, master plan amendments, and other regional plans that concern Sparks.

The Airport Noise Advisory Panel has one opening for a two year term. Among other things, the group reviews information on airport noise problems and assists with issues involving airport operations and land use.

The Board of Directors for the Community Services Agency needs to fill one seat for a two year term. This group is a private, nonprofit corporation governed by a 15 member volunteer Board of Directors from various sectors of the northern Nevada community. The Agency works to develop programs in human services, economic development, education, training and affordable housing.

These positions are appointed by the Sparks mayor and approved by the City Council. Sparks residents can apply online using the Community Service Application. For more information, contact the City Clerk at (775) 353-2350.
