The Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center at the University of Nevada, Reno is featuring a terrific lineup of movies through May 31. Some of these are quite spectacular, especially the SkyDome 8/70™ large-format films. Two of these currently showing are Solar Max and Amazing Journeys. Others playing are full-dome star shows - Ice Worlds, Black Holes, and The Secret of the Cardboard Rocket. The full-dome light show playing is Dark Side of the Moon which, as you've already guessed, swirls around the Pink Floyd piece of the same name. This one is accompanied with an advisory that adult subject matter is involved. At 6 p.m. on the first Friday of each month, the Live Sky Tonight Star Talk fills you in on what's in the sky right then, followed by telescope viewing at the observatory in nearby Rancho San Rafael Park (weather dependent).

Star Theater showtimes vary in a way that makes these entertaining features available to just about everyone. Ticket prices are down right cheap considering the high quality productions you can see, and certainly a bargain compared to the commercial movies. It's $6 for adults, and $4 for children under 13 and seniors over 55. If you can, get there early so you have time to explore the free exhibitions in the Planetarium Exhibit Hall.

Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center is located north of Lawlor Events Center at Virginia and 16th Streets, on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. Free parking is available in designated spaces in the West Stadium Parking Complex, level 3, just east of the Planetarium. For tickets, showtimes and more information, call (775) 784-4811.
