"For the past several years the RSCVA has remained true to the strategic plan and has consistently tried to eliminate the deficit at Northgate," said Ellen Oppenheim, RSCVA president and CEO. "Having exhausted the other alternatives we must now make this recommendation (to permanently close Northgate) to the Board of Directors."
The RSCVA Board of Directors is scheduled to meet at the RSCVA offices in the Reno Town Mall on Thursday, January 22 at 9 a.m. Meetings are open to the public.
Update: At its meeting on January 22, the RSCVA Board of Directors voted to permanently close Northgate Golf Club. Under terms of the original land donation, the property will revert back to RJB Holdings. "The mission of the RSCVA is to attract overnight visitors to Reno-Tahoe," said Ellen Oppenheim, RSCVA president and CEO. "Because the Board has voted to close Northgate, it will allow the RSCVA to devote more financial assets to market the region at a time when maximum resources are needed. It will also allow the organization to fund other priority capital projects tied to driving visitation to the destination."
