On Wednesday, January 21, Reno’s Mayor Bob Cashell and the City Council will present a report about the City’s finances to Reno residents. Considering the current economic situation, this will be one of the most important meetings between local government and citizens in a long time. According to a City of Reno press release, we will learn how the city is handling its shrinking revenue and what it entails in terms of changes in government services. People are urged to get involved by asking questions about what is being affected and what it will mean to residents. Your suggestions to help us get through this difficult time will also be welcomed.

The State of the City address begins at 5:30 p.m. and the Budget Town Hall Meeting starts at 6 p.m. Both events are at Reno City Hall, first floor Council Chambers, 1 E. First Street in downtown Reno. Free parking is available next to City Hall in the Cal Neva parking garage. If you can't attend, the meeting will be broadcast live on Reno 13 cable television. For more information, contact Reno Direct at (775) 334-INFO (4636).
