Reno recently celebrated the re-opening of the Youth Center after a major renovation made possible by a $1 million grant from The E. L. Wiegand Foundation. The building, at 1270 Foster Drive in Reno, once housed the Reno Family YMCA. To operate the facility, the city has a lease agreement with the Boys and Girls Club of the Truckee Meadows to provide child care services for up to 140 children, ages five and younger. Among other amenities, children are provided with a certified early childhood education program. Child care fees are charged on a sliding scale based on income.
The E. L. Wiegand Youth Center is open Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information from the Boys and Girls Club, call (775) 331-3605.
