It will soon be time to pack away the decorations and Christmas tree ornaments until next holiday season. That real Christmas tree you have been enjoying also needs to be properly dealt with. To dispose of your used tree, take it to be recycled through the annual Christmas Tree Recycling program coordinated by Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB). From December 26 through January 11, there will be three places around the area to drop off trees - Bartley Ranch Regional Park and Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in Reno, and Shadow Mt. Sports Complex in Sparks. Daily hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Recycling trees helps conserve landfill space, reduces illegal dumping, and provides mulch for area parks.

KTMB is seeking volunteers to help out at the recycling locations. You can work four hours in the morning or afternoon, or for the whole day. To get more information, or to sign up, call (775) 851-5185.
