Fitzgeralds is yet another casualty of declining Nevada gaming revenue. Washoe County's take has declined for 13 straight months, including 20 percent lower this September than a year ago. The flip side is that there are now fewer tables and slots competing for a shrinking pot, perhaps bolstering those establishments still in the gambling game. Still, with the double whammy of Indian casinos over in California and a grim economy, how many Reno casinos manage to hang on remains to be seen.

Goodbye, Fitzgeralds. I heard it was more of a muscling out than anything else, but who knows. It should have never gone under.
Just got back from Reno-(8/17/10) While I was there,I
noticed the “Fitz” had ALL the front lights on at night and
the message “Clsoed for renovations” on the front sign.Could
the “Fitz” be comming back?
Tom is right about Fitzgeralds being lit up at night. I don’t know for sure, but I’m guessing the city got the owners to do it so things don’t look bad right next to the Reno Arch. With all the summer events, there are lots of tourists downtown and having the place look worse than it already does would not be a good thing. Until the economy tanked, Fitzgeralds was supposed to come back as a renovated hotel and shops, minus the casino. Who knows now?
It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Reno & I just found out of the closing of Fitzgeralds which kind of sad to me because I used to take my mother to Reno 2-3 time’s a year & we’d alway’s go here for the great buffet dinner’s!!
Can i get some information of where to apply?? Am currently working at circus circus
Thank you

Are the redemable coins still of value? If so, where?
