The Reno Bighorns, our new NBA Development League basketball team, plays their regular season opener in Reno this Saturday evening against the Bakersfield Jam. Tip off is at 7 p.m. and the first 300 fans will get a free lift ticket to Sugar Bowl ski area. The Bighorns are playing their home games at the Reno Events Center, 400 N. Center Street (corner 4th Street) in downtown Reno. There is lots of parking right across the street at the National Bowling Stadium.

Nevada Wolf Pack basketball fans might recognize some of the names on the Bighorn roster. Former Nevada players Garry Hill-Thomas and Kyle Shiloh are working to make the cut and may be on the 10 man team when the season gets underway. However the team shakes out, we should experience some great games. As the term Development League implies, these are the guys likely to become the next big NBA stars.

Single game tickets start at just $10. You can spend more depending on where you want to sit, but that's not a bad deal these days for professional quality basketball. If you have a group of 20 or more, the per ticket prices get even better. Check out the Bighorns group pricing web page for details. For more ticket information, call (775) 284-2NBA (2622).

If you can't make the game and want to follow the action, listen in on local radio station KJFK 1230 AM. You can also watch the games online for free at NBA Futurecast.
