At a press conference this morning, Reno Police Chief Michael Poehlman announced the arrest of James Michael Biela as a suspect in the Brianna Denison abduction and murder case. Biela was picked up following a 10 month investigation involving over 2,200 tips received through Secret Witness and other sources, and assistance from numerous law enforcement agencies. Poehlman said a tip through Secret Witness and DNA evidence obtained from Biela's son are what finally gave a direct link between the suspect and the Denison case. Biela's vehicle, another piece of evidence in the case, has also been recovered. Chief Poehlman also indicated that DNA evidence links Biela to other unsolved sexual assault cases in the Reno area.
The Reno Gazette-Journal has continuing coverage of the breaking story. To learn more about the case, check the Brianna Denison Investigation web page on the City of Reno website.

Why don’t we take DNA from our Servicemen and women for record? How do we identify the dead among our service persons? So many people come out of the armed services with aggressiong, and rage that causes them to black out and let the rage take over. My father was one of them. Drafted to Vietnam, came home with so many nightmares nd memories,,,,,drowned himself in a bottle and his rage came out night after night and he never remembered it in the morning. Why aren’t we taking better precautions. If we train people to be killers, shouldn’t we at least have their DNA?
RenoRebecca, you have an excellent point, but I’m not sure that isn’t already being done. If not, it certainly should be. My older brother pretty much killed himself with the bottle after returning from Vietnam. My hope is that our new administration will put things like caring for our veterans way ahead of bailing out the rich thieves who have been stealing from all of us for far too long.
