Recycle Those Old Phone Books

AT&T is now distributing new phone books. Meanwhile, those old books need to go somewhere and recycling is the answer. To make this annual effort a success, local government and business are teaming up to help make sure those tons of paper don't end up as wasted additions to the landfill. Recycling partners include Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful, AT&T Real Yellow Pages, Waste Management Recycle America, Scolari’s and Sak 'N Save Supermarkets, Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space, City of Sparks Parks and Recreation Department, and City of Reno Parks and Recreation Department.

Besides just decreasing waste, there is a community benefit to phone book recycling. Every ton of recycled books results in a donation by AT&T of 17 trees for planting in local parks. The program begins on November 24 and runs through December 31.

You can leave your old phone books in bins at Scolari’s and Sak 'N Save Supermarkets, take them to one of the sites listed below, or put them out with your recycling for curbside pickup.
