Reno's Veterans Day Parade route is along S. Virginia Street, starting at Court Street at 11 a.m. and running north to 5th Street. Along the way, the parade will stop on the Virginia Street bridge to drop a wreath into the Truckee River, in memory of our fallen soldiers. The parade will include veterans groups, high school marching bands, civic organizations, and patriotic citizens. Parade goers will also be treated to a military flyover during the event, which is scheduled to end at 12:30 p.m.

Powning Park, across Virginia Street from the old Washoe County Courthouse, will be renamed during a ceremony by city officials starting at 10:30 a.m. This park contains memorials to veterans of several wars and will henceforth be known as Powning Veterans Memorial Park. A statue of Reno's namesake, Civil War General Jesse Reno, is a prominent feature at the park. Local, state, and federal government offices will be closed on Veterans Day.
