Take a walk through United States history by viewing the current
Nevada Museum of Art exhibit titled
Long May She Wave: A Graphic History of the American Flag. From the beginning, our flag has tracked the tremendous changes our country has enjoyed and reflected the trials we have endured. This exhibit is an amazing illustration of Americana and how the flag has been infused into virtually every nook and cranny of the American cultural quilt. I took in the exhibit on Election Day and had a hard time tearing myself away. It's that good. The exhibit features about 3,000 pieces from the 5,000 item collection of San Francisco graphic artist Kit Hinrichs. It runs through February 22, 2009.
The Nevada Museum of Art is located in downtown Reno at 160 W. Liberty Street. It is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Closed on Mondays and national holidays. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for students and those 60+, $1 for children 6 to 12, and free for children 5 and under. For more information, call (775) 329-3333.
