    It’s definitely a hand, the question is, on what. I’d guess a mushroom, but that’s not very likely in that climate. (This is somewhere naturally occurring, right?)

    I’m going with the mushroom. But it’s true, they like water. Must be by the lake!

    Thanks for stopping by! We actually did run across a grizzly at Yellowstone this summer, in our van. We could NOT believe the number of people out of their vehicles photographing that dude from not very far away. Luckily he paid them no attention, but seriously!

    Gudrun is correct. This is a giant fungus growing at the base of a dead tree. It was in the woods, along a hiking trail above the west side of Lake Tahoe. The spooky shadow is just someone’s hand.
