Just as I predicted, both presidential campaigns are once again sending big names to boost support for their candidates in Reno and northern Nevada. On Monday morning, former President Bill Clinton will hold a "Change We Need" rally supporting Barack Obama at Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC). TMCC is located at 7000 Dandini Blvd. in north Reno. The event is free and open to the public. Admission starts at 10:30 a.m. and is on a first come basis. Tickets are not required, but you can RSVP online. For security reasons, don't bring any bags. Signs, banners, and umbrellas will not be allowed.

On Tuesday morning, Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will hold a "Road to Victory" rally at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, 4590 S. Virginia Street in Reno. According to the McCain website, admission starts at 7 a.m. The website doesn't actually say, but I'm assuming the event is open to the public. There is a link to RSVP, so maybe you have to do that to get in. It's not clear.

As the election campaign enters the home stretch, Nevada is still considered a battleground state that could go either way. Even though polls are showing Obama leading in Nevada and nationally, it's still close, making our five electoral votes objects of serious contention.

If you are ready to cast your ballot, early voting in Washoe County starts on October 18 and runs through October 31. After that, you must vote in the 2008 General Election at your designated polling place.
