With Halloween drawing nigh and some activities already under way (like pumpkin patches and corn mazes), now is a good time to check out my Halloween events article to see what might be of interest. You'll find things to do for children and families, haunted houses, safe trick or treating, and strictly adult fare.

At Halloween Howl, your furry four legged family members are the guests of honor. Don your costumes, dress up your pets, and head down to the Reno Sparks Livestock Events Center Exhibit Hall (1350 N. Wells Ave. in Reno) on Saturday, October 18. The Howl is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be trick or treating for pets at all the vendors, costume contests for dogs and cats, entertainment, free pets photos, and more. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for kids if purchased in advance, $25 for adults and $10 for kids at the door. For ticket information, call (775) 342-7040. You can also buy tickets online.

Halloween Howl is a benefit for the Shakespeare Animal Fund, a non-profit organization that helps people pay expenses for ill pets that they otherwise could not afford.
