'Tis the season, flu season that is. To help keep this nasty bug at bay, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that most people get a flu shot. In particular, those in high risk groups should seriously consider this preventive measure. Some of those are children aged 6 months to 19 years, pregnant women, people over 50, and people who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities. This year, there is more vaccine than ever is being manufactured.

Around the Reno area, numerous clinics offer flu shots. Starting October 27, they will also be available by appointment from the Washoe County Health District. There will be a free flu shot clinic, Rotary Family Flu Shot Day, on Saturday, October 25. Getting Flu Shots in the Reno / Tahoe Region should not be a problem this flu season, but you have to make the effort to protect yourself and your children from this potentially deadly disease.
