Nevada is one of 34 states that permit early voting. In Washoe County, we can cast our ballots for the 2008 General Election on any of 14 days specified for early voting. The dates are October 18 through October 31. Unlike Election Day when you must vote at a specified polling place in your precinct, you can early vote at any of numerous locations. To find an early voting polling place near you, check the Washoe County Registrar of Voters' early voting locations and times.

Don't confuse early voting with casting an absent, or absentee, ballot. You must go to a polling place and vote in person, just like on Election Day. Get more information about obtaining an absent ballot from my article on Early Voting in Reno and Washoe County.

To vote at all, you must register. The deadline to register by mail is October 4. To register in person, it's October 14.
