Nevada Delegates at the Democratic National Convention in Denver

Follow me on:

Nevada's Democratic National Convention delegates are headed to the Pepsi Center in Denver to help nominate the party's presidential candidate for the 2008 election. Of course, we already know it will be Barack Obama, who recently revealed Senator Joe Biden as his choice for vice president. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid leads the delegation, which includes a diverse group of 34 Nevadans (25 selected by the Nevada state convention process and 9 superdelegates).

One delegate is Reno resident Xiomara Rodriguez, who was chosen to give a speech on Wednesday evening. Another local in attendance (though not a delegate) will be Reno blogger Tracy Viselli, aka Myrna the Minx, covering the convention with a group of bloggers at the Big Tent, a venue near the Pepsi Center. Follow Viselli's convention commentary on Reno and Its Discontents. Real political junkies can tune in to the whole thing by referring to the Democratic National Convention schedule. If you want more, check out the official convention blog.

New Nevada residents, and those who aren't registered to vote for whatever reason, have until October 4 to register by mail and October 14 to register in person for the November 4 general election. Get voter registration and election information from the Washoe County Registrar of Voters Office.
