The Reno-Tahoe Blues Fest takes over Rancho San Rafael Park in Reno this weekend, August 16th and 17th. The 4th annual version of this event features some of the biggest names in blues, including Gladys Knight, The Whispers, and new comer Jonny Lang. I saw Lang's show at the Silver Legacy and can report that this guy is hot. Rancho San Rafael Park is at 1595 N. Sierra Street in Reno.

Battle Born Derby Demons vs. Sacred City Roller Girls - Battle Born Derby Demons is a non-profit organization and Northern Nevada's only flat track roller derby team. Home bouts are held at the River Rink Plaza in downtown Reno (where the ice skating rink is in the winter). Admission is $10 at the gate. Gate opens at 6 p.m., bout starts at 7 p.m. There will be live music, food, a half time show, and a beer garden for 21 and over. Bring the kids and a lawn chair. Hope to see you there.
