Artown in Reno runs the entire month of July at numerous venues around town and includes an amazing variety of art and cultural events.
Artown Opening Cermonies are in downtown Reno on July 1st and start at the McKinley Arts & Culture Center with free face painting for kids ages 3 to 12. The children can then join a parade with the March Fourth Marching Band and Heliosphere and march to Wingfield Park. Following performances at the park, the parade proceeds to City Plaza for a performance by aerial dance troupe Flexion.
Most Artown's 350+ events are free to the public. Ticketed performances will include Wynton Marsalis, Mandy Patinkin, Ringo Starr, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. The Little Book of Artown has the complete schedule and is available at numerous locations around town. You can also find out what's happening with Artown's online calendar of events.
