I recently graduated from the Reno Citizens Institute (RCI), with honors. That means I managed to make every session of the ten week course about the workings of Reno city government, though attending at least six will still get you a sheepskin. I invested the time and effort into RCI because I like to be an informed citizen and know how things work where I live. It's also going to help me be a better guide for you, the visitors to RenoTahoe.About.com.
RCI is a first-class operation, facilitated by Michael Chaump of Reno's Community Relations office. If you are interested in public service (elected office, boards and commissions, etc.) or just want to learn more about how things work in Reno, RCI is for you. Sign up for the fall session, which begins September 11, 2008, by filling out and faxing the simple application available on the RCI website. The deadline is August 29th. For more information, email Michael Chaump or call (775) 785-5858.
