Riding Sierra Spirit

Reno's city center is nice and compact. Most of what I ever need to do downtown is within four or five blocks of the freebie parking spots I know (I hate parking meters), so I almost always park and walk around to do my business. Feet are my favorite form of alternative transportion, but they aren't always the best choice.

One of my recent tasks was at the University of Nevada, Reno, which is up on N. Virginia Street and outside my usual walking zone. I was already parked and it was hot, so I hopped on a Sierra Spirit bus for the trip to UNR. After doing my business, I caught another coach for the return. It was worth waiting a few minutes at each end for the bus to arrive; no parking hassle, no money spent on gas, and an air conditioned ride with someone else driving.

I highly recommend using Sierra Spirit to get around downtown. It's convenient, you'll save money, and there will be fewer cars competing for the limited space on downtown streets. Artown starts next week and the 4th of July will be a three day weekend; Sierra Spirit can get you to many of the venues for both events. And did I mention, riding Sierra Spirit is free.
