Reno / Tahoe Farmers' Market season is gearing up. Some markets have already started their summer runs, with a couple of notable ones opening soon. The area's biggest, Sparks Hometowne Farmer's Market, will open this Thursday, June 12. It goes every Thursday afternoon and evening through August 21 (except August 7 during Hot August Nights).
West Street Market in downtown Reno is new for 2008. Its grand opening is July 16 and will run Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays through September 27. This should be a great addition to other projects in Reno's downtown redevelopment efforts.

What a perfect picture — and idea! With all the FDA recalls on tomatoes it never occurred to me that local growers could offer safe tomatoes. Summer just would not seem right without them on my table.
