For 2008, the Special Olympics Summer Games are moving to Reno from Las Vegas. Opening ceremonies will be at the new Downtown Reno Ballroom on June 6 at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, June 7, swimming competition will be at the Lombardi Recreation Center on the UNR campus, with track and field events running at Reno High School. That evening, a dance and closing ceremonies are scheduled to be at UNR's Joe Crowley Student Union.
Reno Parks, Recreation and Community Services is representing Reno as the host city for the event. If you would like to volunteer to help, you can sign up online at Reno's website. Call April at (775) 334-2260 for more information.
