Reno's Idlewild Park is the setting for Earth Day 2008 on Sunday, April 20, and admission is free. The day will feature music on a solar-powered stage, children's activities, food, and booths with earth-friendly goods and services. Earth Day activities will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A free shuttle service will run to Idlewild Park from nearby Reno High School, where the parking is also free. If you ride a bike or skateboard, free valet service will be offered by the Reno Bike Project.

The Nevada EcoNet website has details about the activities and more related environmental resources.

On Saturday, April 19, the South Lake Tahoe Earth Day 2008 Zero Waste Festival will be at the Montbleu Resort in Stateline, NV (a couple of blocks from California). In addition to other eco-friendly activities, there will be a kid's parade with prizes for best costume and best float (which must be human-powered). Join the fun from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This being Nevada and the Montbleu being a resort/casino, look for more adult-oriented festivities to continue into the evening.
