Got a green thumb and no dirt to play in? Check out the community garden at Teglia's Paradise Park in northeast Reno, 2745 Elementary Dr. You can obtain a plot for only $5 for the whole season. Don't tarry, though, because plots are allocated on a first-come basis, including raised beds to accommodate access for people with disabilities. Part of the produce is donated to local charities, making participation in the garden a real community activity.

For more information, call Debora Hartshorn at (775) 356-3176, or visit the Teglia's Paradise Park Community Garden Program website.

If you know of any other community gardens in the area, let us all know by commenting to this post.
