The weather has been warm and sunny, daffodils are blooming, bees are buzzing, and our traditional early spring snow storm is about to make its appearance. Lest you think I'm kidding, note that last year it snowed in Reno on the first day of spring. And as I recall, we had a dusting in April as well.

If you are a veteran Renoite, this is old news. If not, and you are contemplating motoring west into the Sierra during the next few days, be sure to check the highway conditions so you know what to expect. If it gets ugly enough, NDOT and CalTrans just close I80 and US 50, though this storm isn't supposed to be that bad.

Bulking up the snowpack makes for less worry about the summer water supply. It also means snow sport enthusiasts will be able to play a little longer this spring.
