Citing rowdyism and fisticuffs, officials at the University of Nevada, Reno are contemplating banning beer sales at UNR football games. The proposal has raised opposition among members of the student body, one of whom has started a Facebook site dedicated to fighting such a move. The university plans to make a decision by mid-March so potential season ticket purchasers can be informed about whatever policy changes are made.
There is plenty of precident for a beer ban. UNR is among a decided minority of colleges still allowing alcohol sales at campus football games. What do you think? Is a ban justified? Will it help make the games more attractive to fans and families who might not otherwise attend, as UNR President Milton Glick contends? Chime in and let people know your opinion.
