If you've gotten used to air travel hassles and delays, get ready for a few more at Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO). Construction began recently on the airport's new baggage check-in system and ticketing lobby, creating additional, though temporary, challenges for airline customers.

Some existing areas, like baggage pick-up and the parking garage, won't be affected. Services such as passenger drop-off and check-in will be moved to the median strip that separates traffic lanes next to the terminal from those for through traffic. Lanes next to the terminal will be closed except for emergency and construction traffic. An existing cell phone lot is expanding to assist those playing the waiting game. It is suggested that domestic flight passengers arrive 90 minutes prior to departure, and international passengers make it 2 hours prior.

RNO has set up a Construction Truths website to explain the details and help the traveling public deal with the situation. I'd suggest checking it out before you try to leave Reno / Tahoe by air.
